What is Pilates?
Pilates is a physical conditioning system that was developed by Joseph Pilates (German) in the early 20th century. It emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness.
Pilates wrote about his method, "(It) develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit."
Pilates is a mind-body method. In order to perform the exercises with quality and control, the body and mind must be joined together.
